Article FeatureTraditional window treatments often force a frustrating compromise: either open them completely and expose your interior to harsh glare and street views, or close them fully and live in a dimmed, cave-like room. Sheer shades (often known as silhouette-style window treatments) were engineered specifically to eliminate this compromise.
The Innovative Anatomy of Sheer Shades: Sheer shades feature soft fabric vanes suspended horizontally between two layers of delicate sheer voile fabric. This three-dimensional architecture allows light to pass through two distinct filtering membranes before reaching your interior space.
Luminous Sunlight Diffusion: When harsh, direct sunlight strikes a standard window, it creates strong shadows, hot spots, and eye strain. Sheer shades diffuse this raw light, scattering it evenly across the ceiling, walls, and floor. The result is a luminous, ambient glow that makes rooms feel larger, softer, and more serene.
Exceptional UV Protection: Direct ultraviolet rays cause premature fading of hardwood floors, custom area rugs, artwork, and designer upholstery. Even when the fabric vanes are tilted completely open to invite exterior sightlines, the dual sheer layers block up to 88% of harmful UV rays. When vanes are closed, UV blocking increases to 99%.
Nighttime Privacy and Motorization: While daytime privacy is virtually effortless with sheer shades, closing the fabric vanes provides complete evening visual shielding. Adding motorized tilt and lift options allows you to synchronize your shades with daily sunlight cycles, all backed by Diamond Custom Shutters' factory direct pricing.
